To add an image and video generation MCP server to Cursor, put the Wireflow server URL, `https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp`, in `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, sign in with your Wireflow account, then ask Cursor's agent for the image or video in chat. There is no API key or header to add. The models run on your Wireflow credits, and the agent gets the finished files back as links.

Setting up a different agent? Start from [How do I connect my AI agent to image and video generation tools?](/docs/use-wireflow-from-your-agent)

## How do I add an MCP server to Cursor with mcp.json?

Add a `wireflow` entry with the server URL under `mcpServers`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wireflow": {
      "url": "https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

The file you save it in decides where the server loads:

| File | Where it loads |
| --- | --- |
| `~/.cursor/mcp.json` in your home directory | Every project |
| `.cursor/mcp.json` in a project | That project only |

If the file already lists other servers, add the `wireflow` entry inside the same `mcpServers` object. Then open **Customize** in the Cursor sidebar and check that the server's toggle is on.

## How do I sign in to an MCP server in Cursor with OAuth?

When Cursor opens the Wireflow sign-in, sign in with your Wireflow account and approve the consent screen, which lists exactly the permissions Cursor asked for. You add no key or headers, because Cursor supports OAuth for servers that require it. Wireflow also supports Dynamic Client Registration, so you don't need the static OAuth client credentials that Cursor accepts in `mcp.json` for providers without it.

You can revoke access at any time from your Wireflow settings.

## Can Cursor generate images and videos?

Yes. Cursor's agent has its own tool for generating images from text descriptions or reference images, and an MCP server such as Wireflow adds video, audio and more image models. With Wireflow connected, the agent can use image models such as Nano Banana 2, Flux 2 and Seedream V4.5 and video models such as [Wan 2.5](https://www.wireflow.ai/models/wan-2-5) and Seedance 2.0, across 100+ models billed to your Wireflow credits. New accounts get a free video, and more videos need a paid Wireflow plan.

Cursor uses the MCP tools listed under **Available Tools** when they are relevant to your request. By default it asks for your approval before it uses them.

## How do I ask Cursor's agent for an image or a video?

Say what you want, which model to use if you have a preference, and where the file should go, and ask for the cost first:

```text
Use Wireflow to make a square product image of a white ceramic mug on a pale wooden table with Nano Banana 2. Tell me the credit cost and wait for my yes, then save it to public/images/mug.png.
```

```text
Use Wireflow to make a short video of steam rising from a white ceramic mug on a wooden table with Wan 2.5. Tell me the credit cost and wait for my yes before you run it.
```

Nano Banana 2 is billed per image and Wan 2.5 per run. See the [pricing page](https://www.wireflow.ai/pricing) for current prices and plans. Cursor's agent can run terminal commands, so it can download the finished file into your project, as the first prompt asks.

Cursor asks before it uses an MCP tool unless you change that. In Auto-review mode, allowlisted MCP tools run immediately, so keep the Wireflow tools that spend credits, such as `run_workflow` and `run_app`, off the allowlist.

Prefer a ready-made job? The public Wireflow skills also install in Cursor with `npx skills add wireflowINC/skills`. See the [skills guide](/docs/skill).

## Can I generate images from Cursor in a build script or app?

Yes, but call the Wireflow REST API from your code instead of going through the agent. The MCP server is for the agent while you chat. A build script or an app that runs on its own uses an API key, which starts with `sk-`, to run a saved workflow and read back its outputs. See [Run Workflows](/docs/api/run) and [how to run a workflow from your own app](/docs/trigger-a-workflow-from-your-app).

## Why won't my MCP server connect in Cursor?

Open the Output panel (Cmd+Shift+U on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+U on Windows and Linux) and choose **MCP Logs** from the dropdown to see the error. Then check these points:

- The server's toggle is on under **Customize** in the sidebar.
- The entry sits inside `mcpServers` and uses the `url` key with exactly `https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp`.
- You edited the file you meant to. `.cursor/mcp.json` loads only in its own project, and `~/.cursor/mcp.json` loads in every project.
- You finished the Wireflow sign-in and approved the consent screen.
- If the agent still doesn't call Wireflow, check that the Wireflow tools appear under **Available Tools**, and start your prompt with "Use Wireflow".
