To generate videos from Claude Code, add the Wireflow MCP server with `claude mcp add --transport http wireflow https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp`, run `/mcp` to sign in with your Wireflow account, then ask Claude for the clip in plain words. There is no API key to copy. The video model runs on your Wireflow credits, and Claude gets the finished video back as a link.

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http wireflow https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp
```

## Can Claude Code generate videos?

Yes, once an MCP server gives it a video model. With the Wireflow server connected, Claude Code can make clips with video models such as Seedance 2.5, [Kling Video](https://www.wireflow.ai/models/kling-video) and Wan 2.5, and it can make images and audio through the same connection. Video models are on paid Wireflow plans.

Claude can do the planning in the chat. It writes the prompt, picks the model, builds a small workflow and runs it. Building the workflow costs nothing, and credits are spent when Claude starts the run.

## How do I add an MCP server to Claude Code?

Run `claude mcp add` with `--transport http`, a name for the server and its URL. The command above adds Wireflow in local scope, which is the default, so it loads only in the project where you ran it. Use `--scope` to change where it loads:

| Scope | Where it loads | Where Claude Code stores it | Command |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `local` (default) | This project, for you only | `~/.claude.json` | `claude mcp add --transport http wireflow https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp` |
| `user` | All your projects on this machine | `~/.claude.json` | `claude mcp add --transport http wireflow --scope user https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp` |
| `project` | This project, shared with your team through version control | `.mcp.json` in the project root | `claude mcp add --transport http wireflow --scope project https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp` |

A shared `.mcp.json` needs no key, because Wireflow signs you in with OAuth. Each teammate runs `/mcp` and signs in with their own Wireflow account.

If you log in to Claude Code with a Claude.ai account and you already added Wireflow as a connector in Claude.ai, you can skip the command. Claude Code makes the connectors you added in Claude.ai available automatically. You add connectors at [claude.ai/customize/connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors), with `https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp` as the URL. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, only admins can add them.

## How do I sign in to an MCP server in Claude Code?

Run `/mcp` inside Claude Code, choose `wireflow`, and follow the steps in your browser to log in with your Wireflow account. Wireflow then shows a consent screen that lists exactly the permissions Claude Code asked for. Claude Code stores the sign-in securely and refreshes it automatically.

To sign out, use **Clear authentication** in the `/mcp` menu. You can also revoke access at any time from your Wireflow settings.

## How do I ask Claude Code to make a video?

Describe the clip, name a model if you have one in mind, and ask for the cost before the run. For example:

```text
Use Wireflow to make a short video of a paper boat drifting across a neon-lit puddle at night with Kling Video. Tell me the credit cost and wait for my yes before you run it. When it is done, save the video to ./wireflow-outputs.
```

Claude typically works through the job with these Wireflow tools:

| Step | Wireflow tool | Spends credits? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Find the model and its price | `list_models` | No |
| Check your balance | `get_credit_balance` | No |
| Build the workflow as a private draft | `create_workflow_from_prompt` or `clone_template` | No |
| Start the run and get an execution id | `run_workflow` | Yes |
| Read the status and the output URLs | `get_execution` | No |

Claude Code runs commands, so it can download the finished file into your project when you ask, as the last line of the prompt does.

For a ready-made shot plan, the [ai-video-generation skill](/docs/skills/ai-video-generation) turns a text prompt or a start image into a 5 second 16:9 clip with MiniMax Hailuo 03 Max Turbo, quotes the credits and waits for your yes before it spends anything. For still images, see [how to generate images in Claude Code](https://www.wireflow.ai/blog/generate-images-in-claude-code).

## How do I check the cost before Claude Code generates a video?

Ask Claude to tell you the credit cost and wait for your yes, as the prompt above does. Looking up prices with `list_models` and your balance with `get_credit_balance` spends nothing, so Claude can quote the run before it starts. These are the credits for four video models at default settings:

| Video model | Maker | Credits per run |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Seedance 2.5 | ByteDance | 135 |
| Kling Video | Kling | 135 |
| Seedance 2.0 | ByteDance | 90 |
| Wan 2.5 | Alibaba | 80 |

Resolution, length and quality change the cost. Video models are on paid plans, starting with Starter. See every model and plan price on the [pricing page](https://www.wireflow.ai/pricing).

## Where does Claude Code save the video?

Wherever you ask it to. Claude gets the finished video back as a link, and it can save the file into any folder in your project, such as `./wireflow-outputs`. `get_execution` returns the output URLs, and the run also stays on its board in your Wireflow account, where anyone who opens the board can rerun it or change one value and run it again.

The ai-video-generation skill saves its MP4 into a dated folder under `./wireflow-outputs/` for you.

## Why can't Claude Code see the Wireflow tools?

Claude Code can't see the tools when the server isn't signed in, isn't loaded in this project, or can't connect. Run `claude mcp list` in your terminal to see which. It shows a status next to each server, such as Connected, Needs authentication or Failed to connect.

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| `wireflow` shows Needs authentication | Run `/mcp`, choose `wireflow` and sign in again |
| `wireflow` is not in the list | It was never added, or it was added in local scope in another project. Add it here, or add it with `--scope user` for every project |
| `wireflow` shows Failed to connect | Run `claude mcp get wireflow` and check the URL is exactly `https://www.wireflow.ai/api/mcp`. If it is wrong, run `claude mcp remove wireflow` and add it again |
| The tools load but Claude does not use them | Start your prompt with "Use Wireflow" |

Removing a server also deletes the sign-in Claude Code stored for it, so you sign in again after you add it back.
