# Trim Audio

**Node type:** `utility:audio_trim`
**Category:** `Data`

## Description

Trims an audio file to a `[start, start + duration]` window in seconds. `start` and `duration` can be wired from upstream (for example an iterator) or set in config. Wired inputs take precedence over config values.

## Canvas ports

These appear as port handles on the left side of the node.

| ID | Label | Details |
| ---------- | ---------------- | -------------------- |
| `audio` | **Audio** | `AUDIO` _(required)_ |
| `start` | **Start (s)** | `NUMBER` |
| `duration` | **Duration (s)** | `NUMBER` |

## Sidebar config

These render as form fields in the right-side config panel when the node is selected.

| ID | Label | Details |
| ---------- | ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `start` | **Start (s)** | `NUMBER` · default `0`. Used when the `start` port is unwired |
| `duration` | **Duration (s)** | `NUMBER` _(required)_ · must be greater than 0. Used when the `duration` port is unwired |

## Outputs

| ID | Label | Type |
| ------- | ----------------- | ------- |
| `audio` | **Trimmed Audio** | `AUDIO` |

## Notes

- The `audio` input accepts a bare URL string or a `{ url }` / `{ audio }` object.
- A missing or non-positive `duration` is an error.
- Transient service failures (network errors, 5xx) are retried once; input errors (4xx) are not.
