Inputs explained

Video (required)
The clip to extend, up to 10 seconds as a regular MP4 or MOV. Its frames are kept as they are and placed inside the new canvas, so crop away anything you do not want kept (a black bar, a watermark) before this node. Type: video.
Prompt (required)
What to paint in the new area, for example "his legs and shoes, the same dark jeans, the same room and lighting continuing down". Up to 6000 characters. Type: text.
Output Aspect (required)
The shape of the extended video. Type: text. Options: 9:16 (vertical), 3:4, 1:1 (square), 4:3, 16:9 (landscape), 21:9 (cinema). Default: "9:16".
Resolution (optional)
Priced per second of the clip. 1080p works for 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and 21:9 only. Type: text. Options: , , . Default: "720p".
Keep Original At (optional)
Where the original clip sits in the new canvas. Any choice but "Model decides" also needs Original Aspect. Type: text. Options: Model decides (centered), Top (new area below), Bottom (new area above), Left (new area on the right), Right (new area on the left), Center (new area all around). Default: "auto".
Original Size (optional)
How much of the canvas the original spans: 1 touches both edges on its tight side. Lower it to zoom out, for example 0.6 to fit a whole body under a head-and-shoulders take. Needs a Keep Original At position. Type: number. Minimum: 0.25. Maximum: 1. Default: 1.
Original Aspect (optional)
The wired clip's shape (9:16 for a vertical take). Used to place it without stretching; required when Keep Original At is not "Model decides". Type: text. Options: 9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5, 3:4, 4:3, 2:3, 3:2, 21:9.

Tips before you run

Start with the default settings and change one input at a time. Keep the result you like on your board so the next step can use it.

If you add a reference file, use a link the workflow can read. Check the inputs and credit estimate on the board before starting a run.

Working with this model

What it is for

Video outpainting. Your clip goes in, and the same clip comes back inside a bigger canvas with new picture painted around it: same framing, same lighting, same gestures, frame for frame. Use it to turn a 16:9 shot into a 9:16 reel, or to zoom a vertical take out so a whole body fits where only the head and shoulders did. The Prompt says what to paint in the new area ("his legs and shoes, the same dark jeans, the same room and lighting continuing down").

Whatever is in the clip stays in the result, so crop away a black bar, a watermark or a bad corner before this node. Luma says Reframe keeps the original audio; if a result comes back silent, put the clip's sound back on it in the Video Editor.

Placing the original

  • Model decides (the default) lets Luma place the clip, centered. Right for a 16:9 shot going to 9:16.
  • Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Center push the clip against that edge, and the new area goes on the other side. These need Original Aspect, your clip's shape, so the clip is placed without stretching. Left and Right need room across the canvas, Top and Bottom need room above or below; a push with no room to move is refused, since it would land exactly where Center does.
  • Original Size zooms out. At 1 the clip touches both edges on its tight side; at 0.6 it spans 60 percent and there is new picture on every side it does not touch.

To extend a vertical take downward so the whole body shows: Output Aspect 9:16, Keep Original At Top, Original Aspect 9:16, Original Size about 0.6.

Before you are charged, the node looks at the clip itself (turned upright, so a portrait phone clip counts as portrait). It refuses a clip that already has the canvas's shape on Model decides, because there would be nothing to paint, and a placement built for a different shape than the clip on the wire, because the clip would come back stretched.

Cost

Billed per started second of the clip, and a higher resolution costs more, so a 7.2 second clip bills 8 seconds, whatever length comes back. 9:16 and 3:4 canvases go up to 720p; 1080p is for 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and 21:9.

Limits

Clips up to 10 seconds, as a regular MP4 or MOV. A longer clip, or one whose length cannot be read, is refused before you are charged, so trim or re-export it first. Check the length of the result before you cut to it: it may not match your clip exactly.

Common questions

How do I use Video Outpaint on Wireflow?

Set the inputs above and choose Open in a workflow. Sign in to save your board, then check its credit estimate before you run.

Can I use Video Outpaint through an API?

Yes. Save a workflow with this model, then call the Wireflow run API with its workflow ID. The API tab has examples you can copy.

What changes the credit price?

The price shown uses the model defaults. Your inputs and model settings can change the total. The workflow shows an estimate before you run.

Can I connect this to another model?

Yes. Open it in a workflow and connect its output to another node with a matching input type.
