FLUX 3

Black Forest Labs FLUX 3 video, direct from the source. Text-to-video, or wire images to animate them: one for a start frame, a start plus End Frame to interpolate, or up to six for a storyboard. Wire a clip into Video to Extend to continue it (billed at a higher rate). Native audio, up to 20 seconds, HD or Full HD. Draft mode renders a fast, cheap preview.

Description

Black Forest Labs FLUX 3 video, direct from the source. Text-to-video, or wire images to animate them: one for a start frame, a start plus End Frame to interpolate, or up to six for a storyboard. Wire a clip into Video to Extend to continue it (billed at a higher rate). Native audio, up to 20 seconds, HD or Full HD. Draft mode renders a fast, cheap preview.

Pricing

  • Cost: ~34 credits per second
  • Notes: Source: docs.bfl.ml pricing, checked 2026-08-05 (BFL bills in credits at 1 credit = $0.01 on their side). Full render: $0.17/s at hd, $0.29/s at fhd. Draft: $0.06/s at ANY resolution — expressed as pricing.rateOverrides because it replaces the per-second rate rather than shifting the resolution tier. These are RAW costs, so marginMultiplier is intentionally undefined and the progressive margin applies. Re-verify against the first BFL invoice.

Variant family

  • Family: flux-3-video
  • Is primary: yes

ID Label Details
prompt Prompt TEXT (required) · multiline
image1 Start Image IMAGE — Wire an image to animate it (image-to-video). Leave empty for text-to-video. Add an End Frame for a start-to-end pair, or extra Keyframes for a storyboard.
image2 Keyframe 2 IMAGE — Optional extra keyframe. With 3 or more images wired (End Frame included), FLUX 3 runs as a storyboard and the keyframes are spread EVENLY across the chosen Duration: the first sits at 0s, the last at the end, the rest at equal intervals. Two images means first frame and last frame.
image3 Keyframe 3 IMAGE — Optional extra keyframe. With 3 or more images wired (End Frame included), FLUX 3 runs as a storyboard and the keyframes are spread EVENLY across the chosen Duration: the first sits at 0s, the last at the end, the rest at equal intervals. Two images means first frame and last frame.
image4 Keyframe 4 IMAGE — Optional extra keyframe. With 3 or more images wired (End Frame included), FLUX 3 runs as a storyboard and the keyframes are spread EVENLY across the chosen Duration: the first sits at 0s, the last at the end, the rest at equal intervals. Two images means first frame and last frame.
image5 Keyframe 5 IMAGE — Optional extra keyframe. With 3 or more images wired (End Frame included), FLUX 3 runs as a storyboard and the keyframes are spread EVENLY across the chosen Duration: the first sits at 0s, the last at the end, the rest at equal intervals. Two images means first frame and last frame.
end_image_url End Frame IMAGE — Optional last frame. With a Start Image wired, FLUX 3 interpolates from the start image to this one. Always counts as the LAST keyframe. Wiring it with no Start Image is refused before you are charged, because a single keyframe is read as the OPENING frame.
video_url Video to Extend VIDEO — Wire a clip to continue it: FLUX 3 picks up from its final frames and carries the motion and framing forward with no cut. Video continuation is billed at a HIGHER rate than text- or image-to-video. Cannot be combined with keyframe images — that combination is refused before you are charged.

One node, four modes, decided by the wires

There is no mode dropdown to get wrong. What you connect is the switch:

What you wire What it does
Nothing Text-to-video
Start Image Animates that image, using it as the first frame
Start Image + End Frame Interpolates from the first frame to the last
3 or more images (Keyframes and/or End Frame) A storyboard, spread across the clip
Video to Extend Continues an existing clip with no cut

Behind the scenes those route to hidden video:flux_3_i2v and video:flux_3_extend variants, which is only worth knowing because of the pricing note below.

Keyframes are spread evenly, and that is the whole rule

With three or more images wired, FLUX 3 runs as a storyboard. The first image sits at 0 seconds, the last sits at the end of the clip, and everything in between is spaced at equal intervals. Four images across a 9 second clip land at 0, 3, 6 and 9 seconds.

Two things follow from that, and both surprise people once:

  • Changing Duration moves every middle keyframe. The images do not stay where they were.
  • The last image you wire is pinned to the final frame. Three images is a beginning, a middle and an ending, not "three beats and then whatever".

Wiring order is the port order: Start Image, then Keyframe 2 through 5, then End Frame last. Gaps are fine, so Start Image plus Keyframe 4 is just two images. There is no timestamp control yet; if you need one beat to land at a specific second, split the shot into two runs.

Extending a video costs more, and the node tells you before you run

Video to Extend takes a clip and carries it forward from its final frames, keeping the motion and framing. BFL bills continuation on a different rate table: 43 credits per second at HD against 17, or 12 in Draft against 6. The cost shown on the node already accounts for the wire, so the number you see is the number you pay. Unwire the clip and it drops back.

You cannot extend a video and use keyframe images in the same run. That combination is refused before you are charged rather than quietly ignoring one of them, because "quietly ignoring one of them" is how you spend the higher rate on a render you did not want.

An End Frame with no Start Image is refused for the same reason: a lone keyframe is read as the opening frame, so it would do the opposite of what the port says.

Draft mode is for iterating on the prompt

Draft renders at 6 credits per second at any resolution, instead of 17 (HD) or 29 (Full HD). Quality is lower. The point is to burn through prompt revisions cheaply, see the motion and the framing, then turn Draft off for the render you keep.

Resolution is ignored while Draft is on, for cost as well as output, so there is no reason to drop to HD to save money on a draft.

Duration is a fixed list, and you pay for all of it

Length is picked from 5 to 20 seconds and billed per second up front, so a 20 second Full HD render is 580 credits before margin. There is no "auto" option on purpose: BFL will pick a length for you, but then nobody can tell you what a run will cost before you press go.

Audio is generated, and it is on by default

FLUX 3 writes its own soundtrack for the clip. Turn Generate Audio off if you are going to lay your own audio over it in the video editor, otherwise you end up mixing two beds.
