Looking for a Runway Ads alternative? We compared 7 tools that make on-brand ad creative and ran the job for free in Wireflow, in feed and story sizes.
Runway Ads makes ad creative from a brand kit, publishes it to ad platforms and learns from the results. We read its launch post and Runway's pricing page on 21 October 2026, compared six other ad tools, and rebuilt the creative half on Wireflow, the node-based AI canvas we build, as a free blueprint. We compete with Runway, so read this as a competitor's guide.
The short version: our 3 ad variants, each in a 4:5 feed size and a 9:16 story size, plus a brand check, cost 42 credits and about a minute of model time. Runway Ads also makes video, publishes to Meta, Google and TikTok and reads performance back, which our board does not. For Runway's other tools, see our Runway alternatives guide.

What Runway Ads does and costs
Runway announced Runway Ads on 30 September 2026 as "an autonomous engine for performance marketing". You connect an ad account and a brand kit, and it generates video and image ads from brand guidelines, past ads and product imagery. It is close to the AI ad agent tools we track, built into a model company's own app.
| Step | What Runway lists |
|---|---|
| Inputs | Ad account, brand kit, past ads, product imagery or product feeds |
| Output | Video and image ads, resized per aspect ratio and channel |
| Review | Automated brand check, then human approval (on by default) |
| Publishing | Approved variants go straight to Meta, Google and TikTok |
| Learning | Reads performance back and makes the next round around what earned spend |
| Price | Not stated in the launch post |
The post also lists localisation of on-screen text and screenshots, and budget limits you set per campaign. It names direct-to-consumer brands, ecommerce brands with thousands of SKUs, apps entering new markets and agencies as its users. Runway says its own weekly ad volume went from 77 to about 900 since July, with cost per subscriber down 41%. Those are Runway's figures, not ours.
Runway's pricing page did not list Ads on 21 October 2026. Its paid plans start at $12 a month billed annually for 625 credits, and the first plan with a Brand Kit is Pro at $28 a month billed annually. If you want ad creative testing at scale without a sales call, the tools below show prices.

1. Wireflow Ad Engine blueprint: Best overall
The Ad Engine blueprint is a ready-made board for the creative side of Runway Ads. You drop in one product photo and a short brand kit; a planner writes 3 ad angles, Nano Banana makes each picture around your exact product with no text in it, and free Compositor nodes set your headline and subline as real text in a feed size and a story size. It works like our static ad creative generator, laid out as atomic nodes you can check, swap or rerun one at a time.
A last node plays the part of Runway's brand check: it looks at the finished ads next to your brand kit and approves or flags each one. The blueprint is free to fork; running it uses your own credits. It does not publish to ad platforms, read results or make video, and you type the copy yourself. Our Higgsfield Ads Studio alternative test runs the feed-only version of this board.
The same job, run on Wireflow
We ran the part of Runway Ads that makes the creative: one product photo and a brand kit in, approved ad variants out. The input was a terracotta stoneware mug packshot we made earlier and a brand kit for a made-up brand, Clayday. The rules tell the planner and the image model to keep the product exactly as photographed and to put no words, letters or logos in the picture, all wired in our visual node editor.
| Measure | Our run on 21 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Scene planner (Claude Sonnet 4.5) | 3 credits, 18 seconds |
| 3 pictures (Nano Banana, 4:5) | 36 credits, 36 seconds |
| 3 feed and 3 story Compositors with the copy | 0 credits |
| Brand check (Claude Sonnet 4.5, reads the 3 feed ads) | 3 credits, 19 seconds |
| Total | 42 credits for 6 finished ads and a review |
At current plan prices ($24 for 1,600 credits on Starter, $45 for 4,300 on Professional), 42 credits cost $0.44 to $0.63.

The mug kept its shape, loop handle and matte glaze in all 3 pictures, and the angles really differ: a morning table with a plate and a linen napkin, a plain studio close-up, and a terracotta and brown colour block. All 12 lines of copy read exactly as typed. The story sizes use the same picture with no new generation. Our first story layout cropped the sides and cut off the mug's handle, so we resized the picture layer to sit whole above the copy band, a free fix. Our Luma Variants alternative covers resizing one approved ad into more placements.
The brand check approved the first two ads and flagged the third: "beautifully simple" is a phrase the brand kit never uses. That is the kind of catch you want before an ad goes live, and you fix it by editing the line in the Compositor. The check reads the copy against whatever you put in the kit, so a fuller kit from a brand kit generator gives it more to check.
The flaws: the studio ad is close to the input photo, its copy band hides the mug's foot, and the story ads leave an empty strip at the bottom that we kept clear of the app's reply bar on purpose.
2. Omneky: Best for the full loop
Omneky says it writes, designs, launches and optimizes ads, launching to 8 platforms including Meta, Google and TikTok. It reads your logos, colours, fonts and voice from your website, makes image ads in sizes such as 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16, and approvals happen in its Ad Central or in Slack. Lite is $29 a month for 200 credits. More options are in our social media ad generators list.

3. AdCreative: Best for many sizes
AdCreative generates ad banners, texts, product photoshoots and videos in all required sizes, scores creatives before launch and checks them for brand and policy compliance. You can push ads to Meta, Google and LinkedIn. Starter is listed at $39 a month, with a 7 day trial of 10 credits. See our AdCreative alternatives.

4. Pencil: Best for enterprise review
Pencil covers briefing, generation, scaling one brief to many variations, an in-browser editor, governed sign-off, launch to Meta, Google and TikTok, and an evaluate stage. Core is $14 a month for 50 generations, and Growth $55 for 250. Agencies can compare it with our ad creative generator for agencies.

5. Smartly: Best for large ad teams
Smartly offers image, video, audio and HTML5 templates, a Producer space where teams adapt, approve and launch ads, AI pre-flight insights such as attention scores, and publishing to every major social platform. It shows no prices; the route in is a demo. See our ad creative automation tools.

6. Creatify: Best for video ads
Creatify makes video ads with AI actors and templates. Starter is $39 a month for 100 credits, and Pro, at $99 a month for 300 credits, adds Ad Clone, which remakes any ad from a URL. It covers the video side that our board leaves out; see our Creatify alternatives.

7. Canva: Best for hands-on design
Canva pairs templates and brand kits with built-in AI tools. The free plan includes up to 20 AI uses a month and 1 brand kit, and Pro is $144 a year. You lay out each ad and each size yourself; see our Canva AI alternative for a node-based route.

FAQ
What is Runway Ads?
A Runway product, announced on 30 September 2026, that generates video and image ads from your brand kit, publishes approved ones to Meta, Google and TikTok, reads performance back and makes the next round from what worked.
How much does Runway Ads cost?
The launch post gives no price, and Runway's pricing page did not list Ads on 21 October 2026. Its plans start at $12 a month billed annually, with a Brand Kit from Pro at $28 a month.
Is there a free Runway Ads alternative?
The Wireflow Ad Engine blueprint is free to fork; a run uses your own credits and cost 42 for our 6 ads and the brand check. Canva's free plan includes up to 20 AI uses a month.
Can I get feed and story sizes from one picture?
Yes. Each picture feeds two Compositors, one at 1080 x 1350 and one at 1080 x 1920, and both carry the same copy. An Instagram ad creative maker covers more placements.
Why keep the words out of the image model?
Image models draw letters as shapes, and longer words often lose or swap a letter. Our board sets every word in a Compositor text layer, so the headline is always exactly what you typed.
Can it make video ads too?
Not this board. Our Higgsfield Ad Multiplier alternative swaps your product into an existing video ad instead.
Conclusion
Runway Ads is the stronger pick if you want one app to make, publish and re-make ads from live results. For a few on-brand variants in feed and story sizes, with every word exactly as typed and a brand check you can read, Wireflow does it as a free blueprint, 42 credits on our test, next to the rest of your AI ad generator work.
