We spent 10+ hours benchmarking AI models for pika labs api while building Wireflow, documenting which settings and configurations produce the best outputs. The workflow below reflects what we learned.

Built on 200+ internal test generations during development
15+ AI models benchmarked for optimal output quality
50+ configurations tested to find the best defaults

How Pika Labs API Works on Wireflow

Pika's official API runs through fal.ai, exposing endpoints for text-to-video, image-to-video, Pikascenes (multi-reference composition), and Pikaframes (keyframe interpolation). Wireflow wraps these into a unified workflow execution model: submit a job, poll for status, retrieve the MP4. Each clip costs a flat per-run fee instead of variable GPU-second billing, and spend limits prevent runaway costs during batch runs.

Because every video model on Wireflow shares the same REST contract, switching from Pika 2.2 to Kling 3 Pro or Veo 3.1 is a single parameter change. No endpoint migration, no payload restructuring, no credential rotation.

Pika Labs API Capabilities

๐ŸŽฌ

Text-to-Video Generation

Generate 5-10 second video clips from text prompts at 720p or 1080p resolution with seven aspect ratio options.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ

Image-to-Video Conversion

Turn any still image into a motion clip by pairing it with a motion prompt for camera moves and subject animation.

๐Ÿ”—

Unified Multi-Model Endpoint

Access Pika, Kling, Veo, and Seedance through a single REST interface with consistent request and response schemas.

๐Ÿ’ฐ

Per-Clip Billing with Spend Limits

Pay a flat rate per generated clip and set budget caps that pause execution before costs exceed your threshold.

โšก

Async Job Queue

Submit generation requests asynchronously, poll for completion status, and retrieve results when ready for production pipelines.

๐ŸŽž๏ธ

Pikascenes and Pikaframes

Compose scenes from multiple reference images with Pikascenes or interpolate between keyframes with Pikaframes via API.

More Than Just Pika Labs API

One API for Every Video Model

Route generation requests to Pika, Kling, or Veo through a single video generation API without managing separate credentials or payload formats.

One API for Every Video Model

Visual Workflow Builder

Chain image generation into Pika video output using the image-to-video workflow canvas, then export the same pipeline as API calls.

Visual Workflow Builder

Compare Models Side by Side

Run the same prompt through Pika and Kling Video 3 in parallel to benchmark quality, speed, and cost before committing to a production model.

Compare Models Side by Side

Built for Production Scale

Handle thousands of concurrent clips with automatic retries, webhook callbacks, and the same infrastructure powering the AI video generator consumer product.

FAQs

What is the Pika Labs API used for?
The Pika Labs API lets developers generate short video clips from text prompts or still images programmatically. It supports text-to-video and image-to-video workflows at 720p or 1080p resolution.
How much does the Pika API cost per clip?
Pika API pricing runs approximately $0.20 per clip at 720p and $0.45 per clip at 1080p for 5-second generations. Pricing may vary by inference provider and resolution settings.
Can I access Pika 2.2 through a REST API?
Yes. Pika 2.2 models are available through fal.ai endpoints. Wireflow wraps these into a unified REST interface so you can call Pika alongside other video models with one set of credentials.
What video formats does the Pika API output?
The Pika API outputs MP4 video files. Clips range from 5 to 10 seconds depending on the generation mode, with support for seven different aspect ratios including 16:9, 9:16, and 1:1.
How does Pika API compare to Kling or Runway API?
Pika focuses on fast, affordable short clips. Kling 3 Pro offers longer duration and higher motion fidelity. Runway Gen-3 targets cinematic quality. Wireflow lets you test all three through one endpoint.
Is there a rate limit on Pika API calls?
Pika's inference provider enforces a limit of approximately 20 generations per minute. Wireflow's async job queue handles rate limiting automatically, queuing excess requests and retrying as capacity opens.
Can I use Pika API for image-to-video conversion?
Yes. The image-to-video endpoint accepts a source image URL and a motion prompt. The API animates the image with camera movement and subject motion based on your prompt description.
What features are not available through the Pika API?
Pikaffects (style transfer effects), lip sync, sound effects, expand canvas, and modify region are currently only available in the Pika web interface and cannot be accessed through the API.
